For the past 11 years, Mr. Humberto Banda has been a teacher at Progreso High School. Currently, he is the Algebra I and Geometry teacher/STC Adjunct Computer Science professor at Progreso Early College High School.
Mr. Banda graduated from the University of Texas Pan American in 2006 with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Information Systems. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Science Information Technology in 2009. Since then, he has been teaching COSC 1301 in the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions, which allows him to teach a second topic that he is passionate about.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Banda coaches mathematics, number sense, and computer science UIL events, which affords him the opportunity to work with many bright young minds. He is also the Math TSI after school and Saturday tutorial teacher as well as the Summer Bridge Program’s Tutorial teacher. to ensure that all of his students are prepared to take College Algebra through STC.
In his spare time, Mr. Banda enjoys learning about and working with technology. His position at Early College affords him the unique opportunity to spend hours on his hobby through teaching and also through learning from the students, as so many students are technologically-savvy.
Mr. Banda thoroughly enjoys working at Progreso High School and honestly believes it is an excellent place for students to attend.
