Originally from California, PECHS Director, Ms. Leticia Aguilar, graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor’s of Science in Liberal Arts, achieving Suma Cum Laude status. She also attained a Master's degree from The University of Texas at Arlington in Educational Leadership. She has been employed by Progreso ISD for 14 years.
Ms. Aguilar began her career in education at Progreso West Elementary as a 4th grade English Language Arts and Reading teacher where she made it her mission to ensure all of her students knew how to write with focused purpose and intent.
Within four years, Ms. Aguilar transitioned out of the classroom and into administration as an Instructional Facilitator at East, West, Progreso High School, and Dorothy Thompson Middle School—roles that uniquely prepared her to understand curriculum from every grade level.
Since 2013, Ms. Aguilar has served as the PECHS Director, bringing to her job that same indefatigable sense of focus and intensity that she did back when she was in the classroom. As the PECHS director, Ms. Aguilar has worked tirelessly to bring new courses to the program and works expertly in tandem with South Texas College to help create a highly successful Early College program. Ms. Aguilar is the mother of 4 energetic children, who keep her busy with FFA, Baseball, Football, and Summer Track.
